esteem destructive news and commentary
January
2, 2006: The Sperlings
outtake album is done and that’s that.
It was mainly done for my own amusement. If anyone reading this would like a copy, just
e-mail me. I am re-setting up the band
room for the new band I hope to start with Alex. Rob’s LowZ
project played at happy fun land, wow what a great show. Check him at www.myspace.com/lowz.
July 19, 2005: Well I finally resumed some kinda band related work.
I created a piece of art I plan to use as the cover of the Sperlings
outtakes album. I need to scan it and
work on initial liner notes. Maybe this
will get done. The music is done or
mostly done and ready to go.
April 29,
2005: Still working on new songs, want to get to 10 before getting too serious
about a new project. I also worked on
the mix of one of the Sperlings outtakes last night. That project will get done when it gets done.
March 4,
2005: Not a whole lot is going on, I
haven’t heard from Shaun Kelly about the Sperlings outtakes album cover;
I may take a stab at it myself. On the
new music front I am writing a few new songs, when I get a reasonable number
together Alex & I are planning to work on playing together and then may try
and form a new band. I played bass on 5
tracks on Christopher Wilson’s project at Sugar Hill studios, including
one song he & I co-wrote, but I am not going to be in his band on a
permanent basis. James
Stone and his wife Melinda had a healthy baby boy recently, Jason Stone.
December 30, 2004: I updated Sperlings.com with a link to a new
Sperlings page here (www.carlsandin.com/sperlings.htm). I may move all the Sperlings.com links here
because this is a pop-up free paid site and I have Sperlings.com on a free
hosting site. I am close to finishing
the proposed Sperlings outtakes CD and Shaun Kelly is working on the
cover. I hope to get the other
ex-Sperlings copies of it soon so they can comment and help write the liner
notes.
December
14, 2004: As mixing and mastering progresses on the
Jeremy Hall album, James and I did overdubs on an unfinished Sperlings song
from 1998. Mike recorded guitar and
vocals and Rob recorded keyboards in 1998 on a Mike Fuller penned song called
“Nothing Less Than Bliss”, but then recording stopped. This was the period between Sea of Sarcasm and Green Manilow. James
added drums on Saturday and I added bass on Sunday and I mixed the song last
night. This track should appear on the
upcoming Sperlings outtakes album “Keep Your Hands off my Monkey
Supply”. It is the only track with
any new recordings. Shaun Kelly, my
brother in law, may be doing the album cover.
August 20, 2004: The Jeremy Hall
sessions at Bronze Beagle. Original
Sperlings James Stone and me backed guitarist/
singer/songwrite Jeremy Hall on 11 new songs written by Hall. Check the mainpage for mp3s.
June 23, 2004: Out Smart Magazine gave the CD a good review
in their June issue. WWW.outsmartmagazine.com. Also, my older sister thinks its my best record yet, so that’s got to be good.
April
20, 2004: Getting ready for
the par-tay I upgraded my website to remove banner ads and to allow mp3
downloads, I’ll try to make some available ASAP. The CD is going out to college radio every day. Lets see if anything
happens.
April 13,
2004: Come on by the record release party, see 3/4 of
the Sperlings plus Christopher Wilson & Alex Shivelhood play live. Songs to
included Carl solo material, as well as Sperlings & Walk Ins
material.
February 8, 2004:It seems that I have all
of the graphics working for my not-very-sophisticated, but functional website.
If you'd like a copy of any of the music referenced herein, just send me an e-mail
carlsandin@sbcglobal.net, and I'll send it to you.
February
5, 2004: Well I am working on a new new website, so if you are reading this it
must have worked. I have set a release date on the new album of April 24, 2004, with a release party
at my house. Band is slated to include me, Rob Smith, Josh Barry, Christopher
Wilson & Alex Shivelhood.
January 15, 2004. I have slapped this together as well as reviving
www.sperlings.com. Lets put the sucker online, damnit.
October 22, 2003, I am working on developing my website, I am fairly
determined to do it myself. If you are reading this
than I must have gotten it on line. My new album is done, and when
I finish the cover I will have it pressed as the 7th Bronze Beagle Release.
